Why Hot Yoga?
Hot Yoga, an engaging and demanding workout tailored for both men and women, targets every muscle, ligament, tendon, organ, gland, cell, and joint in the body. Stemming from Calcutta, India, Hot Yoga introduces unique asanas and structural nuances, distinguishing it from other Yoga styles. By synchronizing breath with movement, Yoga has been proven to boost muscle tone, flexibility, and mental well-being, fostering equilibrium and optimizing bodily functions. In our 60 and 90-minute sessions, we adhere to traditional Hatha Yoga, integrating specific asanas, stretches, and breathing exercises. This gratifying practice not only strengthens the entire body but also nurtures muscles and internal organs, purifying the body and promoting toning through deliberate movements and breath control. Through induced perspiration, toxins are swiftly expelled, resulting in a thorough internal cleansing. Hot Yoga stands as a remarkably potent and therapeutic exercise, particularly beneficial for individuals grappling with physical and mental ailments.

What is Hot Yoga?
Hot Yoga is a form of Yoga that originated in Calcutta, India. Traditional Yoga in the hot climate of Calcutta evolved into Hot Yoga which is practiced today. The room is intentionally heated to recreate these conditions, helping to relax the muscles. The postures (or asanas) are very unique to these methods and focus on compressing the internal organs, forcing fresh blood and oxygen to those areas. This benefits the mind and body through a process of detoxification, stimulation and rejuvenation. There are distinct alignment differences between hot yoga postures and similar postures that other yoga styles teach.
Why is the room heated?
The room is heated to loosen and warm the muscles, enabling the body to become more flexible and to help prevent injury. An added benefit from a heated room is sweating which purges the body of toxins.
Can I lose weight?
Yes. The amount of weight loss will depend on the number of classes per week, eating habits, and fitness levels.
How often should I practice Hot Yoga?
We recommend you practice as often as you can. We encourage participation in a class setting three or more days per week. If additional exercises such as weightlifting, aerobics or dance are implemented into your routine, then fewer yoga classes may be needed to help accomplish your fitness goals. Continuous Yoga practice will advance your overall performance in sports and other activities.
Should I bring my own water, mat, and towel?
Absolutely. As with any strenuous activity, you need to replenish and hydrate with water. Bring at least a 12 ounce bottle. You will likely lose that much water during the session. Also, we recommend bringing your own Yoga mat and towel. Mats, towels, and water are available for purchase.
What if I’m not flexible?
No matter; we love all body types, skill levels and ages. Flexibility will come with practice. The more inflexible you are the more you need to practice Yoga. Come to Yoga practice with an open mind and your body will follow.
